a white lie, is still a lie.

13 Jan

It’s over & done
one lie & we’re through,
i don’t need a liar,
so i don’t need you.

I have better options,
i made an exception!
you selfish little boy,
with no sense of dedication…

It may be a small thing,
but white lies are more than enough
to break a heart,
& breech my long-earned trust…

you thought i wouldn’t notice?
you thought i wouldn’t care?
sorry doesn’t really cut it…
my heart is so very, out of here…

I can’t help but wonder where you would draw the line. Is a compliment a lie?
    Good poem!

telling someone u can’t talk because you’re going to bed. when u just want to watch a movie, or chat with someone else is a lie. i’m such an honest person, it hurts me when others around me feel the need to lie about something that stupid.why can’t they just say “i don’t feel like talking. i just want to relax”. or just say, not tonight.

& btw, a compliment is not a lie, unless it’s not true. Or given in order to manipulate or get something.

So you would condemn anyone who told you that you were beautiful when you looked OK, alright for your age, or better than you usually do?

(reply to your 1/14/2012 comment)- No. I think in that case, someone saying it thinks that girl is beautiful to them. i also believe beauty is sooo much more than visual. i think it’s defined by character & attitude, much more than looks. So, if a girl is beautiful to you, that is not a lie. Now, if she’s ugly, & you feel she exudes ugliness, (& u were just saying it to get on the boss’s good side or something), don’t say it. that is just a manipulative lie…. See where I’m going with this? find a true compliment. no need to lie. A girl will be a lot more charmed by the compliment of “You radiate when you smile.” or “You are inspiring”, “you are so considerate toward everyone, i love that about you”… etc, than they will be by a mere superficial comment about beauty.

Far too much emphasis goes into beauty of appearance, when girls should be striving for beauty of character. Compliment what you want them to enhance & continue giving attention. if that’s looks, cuz u want her to do her hair like that, fine. but i think character compliments are so much more genuine & meaningful.
