and i said i’m truly sorry inside out
i guess i just saw him as an escape from us,
i didn’t mean to hurt your feelings,
just couldn’t face you, to tell you that i’d had enough…

and i know you had no way of knowing
because my communication when i’m upset doesn’t exist
but don’t act like i came in with a vendetta,
i just wanted to be through with all of this….

can we please just be friends again?
i really want to take back all of the distractions
i guess it was my fault for leading you on,
but at the time, i was just following my gut reactions…

so, oh, please just say it’s okay, you forgive me…
like why, do you need to make me sit here feeling so guilty,
what it really comes down to, is i scarred your perfect pride,
but oh c’mon, be a man, don’t be so dramatic like it was a crime….

i never meant to hurt or deceive you…
i only meant to release my own heart…
listen, i know it was selfish at best,
but don’t act like you haven’t caused scars…

nobody gets it all right…
will you forgive me or hold onto your pride?…

soon to shine

i love when he says ‘oh there’s no way’
maybe a little ruffled but then i smile & say ‘you’re right’…
oh if only they knew, just waiting for my time….
to take over this whole world, just waiting to shine…

oh & don’t tell me there’s no way, and expect to believe you…
I’ve already done things, nobody has done before…
and yeah, we’ve all got our own hopes & ambitions i’m sure…
but there’s no reason, not a good one, that i couldn’t be more…

just give me a little piece of sky…
then oh world, let me shine…..
we’ve all got to let our colors show…
and i can’t wait for you to see mine…

 

don’t fear it away

defeat. lol, it’s not so scary, right?
i mean the worst part isn’t even the hard fall,
it’s the part where you know deep inside,
that you could have changed this all…

So looking into the future,
at every open door ahead,
i can’t help but imagining the let down…
and it fills my hope with dread…

and have we ever been more let down,
than when it comes to a young girl with love?
i used to be one of those romantics, you know…
but you see, doubt, is what experience does….

So i write all these poems about taking this risk
and how i’m not going to let our sturdy love die…
but, son of a gun, i have yet to even send you a text,
and my heart is still living in this dreadful lie…

defeat, a self fulfilling prophesy, &despair, the ship upon which
dreams are held captive until, even with no ropes, we don’t try again….

But defeat, isn’t all that bad you know,
you’re not as week as when you were held in ropes,
really the worst part isn’t what it could be if you fail today,
the worst part, is you wasting your life as you fear it away…

 

at the end of the galaxy…. (all you are with me)

if you’ll be the sunshine, i’ll be the breeze
and together we’d make the best summer scene…
if i am a boat, why don’t you be the sea?
i’ll happily float around in a world of just you & me…

like off the deep end of the world, it’s true,
i see all the galaxies and colors in the stars,

i kinda like being a little bit wicked
and a little bit sweet at the same time,
being a tad mischeivious and playful,
while still that little innocent sunshine…

magical enough for me

if you’d come and find me
hidden in my mountain pines
then i’m rather certain our love
would bring fairies to life…

it would be as magical as any tale
i could weave aspen bark into gold
and your kiss would break the spell
and then all the enchantment would unfold….

we’d see the birds sing us pretty songs
and lightning works would burst from the skies,
as the pixies awaken the purple mountain blooms,
and sprinkle down sparkling snow in sunshines

and even if we don’t ride off into the clouds
on the back of unicorns as the sun sets…
i will be more than happy to make you mine forever
i’ve loved you since the first moment that we met…

it takes no pixie dust or rainbows,
and while it sounds right now imaginal
i’ve made up my mind not to let this go,
because our love, it could be magical…

So if you ever feel like taking a bus,
taking an airplane, or driving through mud,
if you ever feel like chasing that crazy girl…
you’ll be welcomed in my crazy world…

So if you ever turn on michael buble,
and remember dancing on the frozen lake,
if you ever see a skeleton key in a window sill,

i wonder how often thoughts of me drift through your mind,

a little too late

it all seems a little silly these days,
time with any of these guys is just a waste…
and sure it’s fine and dandy and fun…
but i still yearn for one who got away…

I’m still in love with the memories of us…
i’m still in love with that fantasy
I’m still in love with you the agnostic boy,
who i tried never to let get too close to me…

you were the one who i fell for so hard
and i don’t think i can ever move on
until i get the closure that we can try,
or that you are very sure that i am wrong…

i want so much to go back to that night
when i ran into your arms in the dark…
that moment you held my gaze & my heart beat so fast,
but then i gently pushed us apart…

crap. i still love you. and you’ve moved on.

 

sparkle of Aladdin’s lamp

i got an itch to spark some magic
set a fire to the world so dull…
who’s up for being my accomplice in crime
the crime of getting away from it all?

I want to climb the mountains in the sunshine
i want to fly from a grand trapeze
I want to spin each other in circles till we’re dizzy
and then giggle as we escape everything…

Oh heck, let’s kidnap each other this summer,
maybe then our jobs will hire us back when we’re done…
on the news it will report, two tourist missing in Brazil,
but you & I will be free while on the run!

let’s sail across the ocean as stow-aways,
let’s learn another language as we’re passing through,
let’s maybe fall in love as we have our adventure,
or maybe, i’ll just find my adventure in you….

oh i’ve got that crazy itch for adventure again…
And as much as i’d like to find Aladdin’s lamp,
it may just have to simply be enough for now,
to find a suitable partner for a wednesday night dance…
