u don’t find love? u build it

23 May

how much does it matter anyway?
all these people and their stupid games.
why do we all have to care so very much?
I mean, is it even possible to ever really find love…

don’t you have to build it?
don’t you have to grow it?
don’t you have to pay for it?
and even then you never own it…

you don’t just find a diamond on the beach,
why do people force such a silly belief?
why can’t we find some solid enough stone
and carve it out till it matches our own…

isn’t all of it a gamble anyway,
who really knows all the rules of the game?…
all they say is ‘you’ll just know when it’s right…”
but what about choice, risk, and sacrifice?

how much do feelings matter anyway?
what’s so wrong with settling for a safe play?

Hope for a world grown cynically cold
hungry for power and greedy for gold,
Faith to believe when, within and without
there’s a nameless fear in a world of doubt.
Love that is bigger than race or creed
to cover the world and fulfill each need…
God grant these gifts of faith, hope, and love–
three things this world has so little of–
For only these gifts from our Father above
Can turn man’s sins from hatred to love.

You seemed so negative, that I just had to show some kind of light to your heart.

I love your poems, but they are too human. So I answered you back in poetry to show that there is light, life and love here.

Her name is Helen Steiner Rice and the poems are from her book Gifts of Love. I love her and her poems were meant to show God’s Love to those who have been broken. But being broken is God’s specialty. Some people grow more bitter because they don’t understand the principle of suffering. Those who do, grow more and more sweeter.
